Dear Aegliss: The book isn't out quite yet ... in fact, today is the day I'm supposed to receive the page proofs to correct. Some Web sites allow you to reserve the book, and I will add those Web sites to the little blurb on the bottom of this story. If you promise to at least consider buying "The Case for Pluto," I would mention Neil Tyson's "The Pluto Files" (which could be characterized as "The Case Against Pluto") or the Stern/Mitton book "Pluto and Charon" (but be sure you get the 2005 edition). Another book on the subject is "Pluto Confidential" (Maran/Marschall), which I haven't seen but is due out in August. But I humbly hope you'll find my book to be the most entertaining and insightful of the bunch. ;-)

The memorial was on target and respectful... For those who like Michael it was great, for those who thought he was twisted, you have not been paying attention. He was framed all the way. You really need to follow current events.

He was a friend to those he would let in and mystery to own family at times, but he was never Wacko-Jacko. I do not believe for one second Brooke Shields would have been around anything but a proper person.

Lastly, he was an exceptional and loving father who kids loved him as he adored and loved them.

Hey, DanP, what's a "petafile"? Is that some paperwork that PETA keeps in drawers at their office? How do you know anyway? I seem to recall that he was acquitted of the charges. And, I also recall that at least two of the witnesses in the trial perjured themselves on the stand! On of the boys' mothers had been previously convicted of welfare fraud. These are the only people who could come up with "evidence"? The extortionists did get away with a lot of his money, though. Did you not read Maccauley Culkin's statement that there was absolutely no truth to the rumors? He probably spent the most time with the man of anyone. I know that Michael is up there in Heaven, and he's having the time of his life, having the childhood he never had here. It's not a mistake at all to honor this man. Why would we not?

It's simply shameful that even in this man's death, this reporter (Alan Boyle) can find nothing else to nick pick and highlight, but-among other things-weather or not fans were interested in listening to Rev. Al Sharpton!

A man... A person has passed. One who obviously had an impact on millions, WORLD-WIDE. It's so disrespectful that this is what Alan Boyle chose to focus on, rather than realizing that although televised, this was a memorial to someone's death. Some one with a family. Have some respect for that at least. There are those in the media that will forever find the negative in whatever they cover.

An interesting article about media coverage. For those that study the Bible and end times prophesy, it immediately made me think of the prophesy of the 2 witnesses who will be killed and all the eyes of the world will be watching. (Reference Revelations chapter 11)

Our global expansion of media coverage and available outlets for viewing certainly makes this prophecy more plausible. Sorry, not trying to make this article about religion, though Jackson's family is very religious. But, that was my first thought in reading this piece about the media coverage.

Come to think of it, I remember thinking it odd that a 11 year old boy was singing songs about boy-girl things that certainly never happened to 11 year olds..or 12, or 13 or young teens. The memorial was beautiful and moving. I watched it on TV, didn't even try to watch it online. The whole service was geared toward revealing Michael Jackson as a human being, treasured by those who knew and loved him, and I think that was accomplished. If Michael was a "petafile" what was Elvis? Many people still worship him for messing with a 14 year old when he was a grown man. The world watched this, approvingly. Further, the charges against him are not true just because you want them to be. Either post your "proof" or STFU. It is not inconceivable that folks would lie for money and defame him. I work in childcare and children and their parents do say things. It is the most awful thing to be accused of abusing a child when it is not true. Even when the facts prove you innocent, a terrible stigma remains. They photographed his genitals and everything else. If he were guilty, he would have gone to jail because they were salivating to convict him. Let him rest! One good thing is that to be present with God is to be away from all the evil haters.
