It could well be the same for the rush to private-sector spaceflight: At least

Outfitters for the space rush

You know that the Frontier is opening up when the suppliers set up shop at the jump off point.
Yep, and the space companies will be right at the model company doors with their hands out for that all important royalty payment. Just take a look at the model railroad industry.

Outfitters for the space rush

The smart money does not go out with a shovel. The smart money first sells a shovel to the hopeful and then sits back to collect the findings before outfitting the next trip that will result in the BONANZA!

Yup!

Considering some of the stuff I have seen in SF movies from the last 50 years, why am I not filled with confidence? Getting an Oscar does not qualify you to design MY vacuum equipment! I don't care how cool it looks. I want it to hold pressure, allow mobility and work when I need it. Aesthetics be damned!

Materials, anatomy and physiology, not costume designing are the fields of study, thank you very much! By the by, read Heinlein's "Have Spacesuit, Will Travel".

Outfitters for the space rush

The difference between the gold-rush and the "space-rush" is that anybody was able to prospect if they could get there. There is no direct analogy of a prospector in the space tourism business, unless you count Joe Hobbyist building his own sub-orbital space craft! The real money will be made in merchandising (as with most things!).
