Politico.com says that MSNBC will giving out tickets to movie theaters that will be showing its coverage of the Inauguration. I live in the "180" zip region of PA and want to know if any theaters here are participating, and how to get a ticket. Thanks

Thanks for this great article! From what I have read, the MTV inaugural ball has been canceled. My brother and I created a website called lyvegyde (http://www.lyvegyde.com) that gathers links to live, online events. We have been collecting inauguration webcast links and will keep updating our site as we find more. Thanks again!

[ALAN ADDS: Actually, MTV is still planning to broadcast from the Youth Inaugural Ball, a.k.a. "Be the Change" ball. Apparently, at one time MTV had been planning to put on its own ball, but that's the plan that was canceled.]

For months now, my granddaughter Violet, age 3, has been included in her mom and dad's conversations and comments about Barack Obama's campaign and now the "Big Party" as her mom calls The Inauguration, so Violet can understand... As my daughter and Violet werewatching the Today Show this morning, Meredith Viera smiled and excitedly said "And We Will Bring it all to You". Violet lives in Genesee, Idaho, a town of 800. Violet's eyes lit up and she smiled and said "Mommy he is coming here"!!!

Obama, the Pressure is On

In a poll on Fox News recently, two thirds of Americans believe that Obama’s top priority should be the sliding U.S. economy. This may be one of the toughest jobs that Obama has to face since hopes are up and expectations are great.

I have never expected Obama to win the U.S. election. My bet was on Hillary. Heck, no African-American has ever won. Hillary Clinton, though she would be the first female president if she had won, would be “acceptable”. But America has changed. The way America thinks has changed. Or, as Obama put it, “Change has finally come to America.”

His election as the first African American President sparked an Obama phenomenon. His victory was immensely celebrated worldwide. If we look back, Obama’s campaign was filled with promises. He pledged to “unite a country divided over the decision to conquer Iraq”. Changes in economic policies and so forth and so on…It was a campaign filled with promises, filled with “real” change.

Here is a brief of what Obama wanted to change:

• Obama has offered a detailed plan to get America’s economy back on track, by creating new jobs and easing the burden on hardworking Americans by offering middle-class tax cuts three times the size of McCain’s.

• Obama puts children first by investing in early childhood education, making sure our schools are adequately funded and led by high-quality teachers, and reforming No Child Left Behind.

• Obama will invest in alternative fuels and renewable energy, including a plan to increase America’s energy efficiency and create 5 million new “green” jobs.

• Obama has been a leader on government transparency – refusing to take donations from lobbyists or PACs, improving disclosure and creating a database where the public can track federal contracts and

• Obama will continue the long American tradition of smart diplomacy to keep the country safe while improving America’s standing in the world.

• Obama’s health care plan will provide accessible, affordable coverage for all, and it will reduce health care costs for families.

• Obama supports increased security measures for our airports, ports, and land borders, part of a national plan to protect American’s infrastructure and keep our communities safe.

• Obama will work with his military commanders to responsibly end the war in Iraq. Obama will refocus our resources on al Qaeda in Afghanistan and finish the fight with the terrorists who attacked us on

• Obama provides a middle class tax cut for 95 percent of American workers. Middle class families will get three times the tax relief from Obama than they would from John McCain.

If you want to read the details, go ahead. Visit obama.com. But from where I stand now, I believe that Obama is confronted with three major issues. The war on Iraq and on Israel, the issues concerning the halted gas flow from Russia, and the deep economic recession.

Obama was be inaugurated U.S. president Tuesday. While the expectations remain high, America and the world should remain realistic. A change in the administration does not entail that problems will be resolved immediately. It doesn’t mean problems get any easier. And with great expectations come great disappointments.

For now, while America is hopeful, while America is optimistic, the world is closely watching.
