I said 'awwwww' the moment I saw him. I said 'awwwww' again when I read he was kept in a cage for the bar patrons amusement when the owners adopted him. I WOULD HAVE TOO!

We had a cat named Hitler (black mustache on white face) that got run over by a farm tractor about 4 times and had 8 toes on each foot. In-breeding does the toes, warm tires do the first. All total she must have had at least 40 kittens, all with multiple toes.

What an absolute doll, just like all cats. I do hope he was neutered since some nut would likely want to catnap him to try to construct a new breed of cats with odd ears, like the American Curl and Scottish Fold, for profit. There are already too many kittens born only to die or end up in shelters. Responsible people have all cats neutered or spayed and keep them strictly indoors for their health and safety. I hope this cute fellow is fortunate enough to have found truly responsible, caring people.

I have loved cats, especially (black, greys + tigers) all my life and I think he's cute :) Have seen and had cats with extra 1-2 toes on each paw, but tis is the first time I ever saw a cat like that with 4 "ears".

I am glad someone adopted him. I feel bad for cats like that and others that otherwise get discarded, abused, etc. just because of an odd trait like that or their color. I think the bar owner was being mean by the manner in which he had him on display. He could have simply taken pictures and put them up instead.

I am a responsible person, but I'd never alter an animal unless I knew it was going outside and had a chance of reproducing or was ill. I have a male cat that is 12 years old. He is very active, healthy and still the way God made him. He's never been loose and loves his family for leaving his body as nature intended.

Oh, how cute! I wonder if anyone realizes that genetic mutations and their frequency is an indication of chronic exposure to severe environmental contamination? I wonder how "cute" it would be if this happened to a human? Most certainly everyone would look at that person with disdain, and certainly not say that they are "cute". It seems like the deformities which have been common in amphibians have worked their way up the food chain in a very short time.

I have a cat with 5 legs.
4 normal ones and a vestigial leg on her back about 3 inches from her tail. Complete with paw and claws, but useless. It just lays on her back.

I think Yoda proves that the "intelligent designer" exists and has a woderful sense of humor. Look how many smiles Yoda has put on the faces of people everywhere! What a cute cat. I'm glad that the Rocks decided to rescue Yoda from a pretty bad situation. I mean, "for the amusement of bar patrons"??? You know that if they hadn't saved him, more than likely some drunk patron would have done something horrible eventually to this poor cat whose only crime is that he was born with a physical oddity.

God bless that couple. No animal should be treated that way.

I think we shouldn't be so hard on the bar owner for caging Yoda. If you are trying to find homes for kittens, you probably don't want the kittens underfoot where they could be injured, or where they could run out the door and get lost or hit by a car. It sounds like he was just trying to help adopt out Yoda and his littermates.

I was amazed, though, that Yoda wasn't the first kitten adopted. He is so cute, and it seems his unusual attributes would be a plus.

Kudos to the Rock Family for adopting Yoda. Why did the jerk bar owner keep the poor thing in a cage for drunken idiot drunks to laugh at? The Scottish Fold and the American Curl were never purposely bred for their ears. Their ears are a genetic mutation that became dominant and there are some Scottish Fold that have straight ears. As for Yoda... he's a cute Korat and I like him. I just don't think my three cats would like another cat in the family or I would love to take him!!!! =^..^=

I bet Yoda is twice as good at ignoring his humans! I used to have polydactyl who was the clumsiest cat on the planet. More toes did NOT help her coordination.

No matter how cute the mutation, pets need to be spayed and neutered!!!! There are too many unwanted pets in the world. I'm pretty sure that there is plenty of genetic diversity to be found.

I have a four-eared cat too. And yes, his name is Yoda too. He is wonderful! He was born on a farm about an hour from Chicago in May 2007. In a litter of four, he and another were born with four-ears. You can see him on Youtube. We posted it last year.

In response to Robert Powite in Virginia, I'm sorry but you seem to have a very limited understanding of genetic mutations and their causes. Genetic mutations are random and specific mutations don't "work their way up the food chain". While certain environmental contaminants can certainly be mutagenic, in this case (as with similar odd mutations in domestic animals) it is most definitely due to inbreeding.

Inbreeding dramatically increases the frequency of a specific recessive allele within a given population. People inbreed animals to preserve specific favorable traits, such as color - while unseen mutations in other genes are also preserved but go unnoticed until they appear in a homozygous individual.

Unfortunately, inbreeding also preserves mutations that can cause severe illness with a frequency much higher than "environmental contamination" can. I would say that the practice should be abandoned, but that is obviously unrealistic. People should just take care to spay and neuter their pets. It's truly irresponsible not to do so.

ok guys. i agree that "for the amusment of the patrons" sounds bad. it does to me, too. but where would this darling be now if he hadn't had it on display? at least somebody came in, saw it, and took it home to love and care for. i love anamals, especially cats with unusual traits (like no tail), but i can't have a pet where i live, and trust me...i really miss that. i am especially fond of smokes and cats with siamese markings.
