Sixth birthday for the blog

Posted: Tuesday, May 13, 2008 12:00 AM by Alan Boyle

Today marks the sixth anniversary of Cosmic Log's founding. In the past year, we've set new records for visitors and comments, thanks in part to those darn glowing cats and other scientific weirdness. In honor of the birthday, I'll point you to the same old quiz I've run over the past few years. How well do you know your Cosmic Log lore? Take the quiz and find out. Then check out these links to some of my favorite subjects:

Woo Hoo! Congrtulations on 6 awesome years Alan! I've enjoyed the run immensely and hope it goes on until my fingers are too weary to scroll the mouse wheel. (or until my browser explodes from all the debates over global darwinism or evolution warming).

... And just in case those comments were misunderstood... I was just trying some word play about controversial topics covered here on my favorite blog. My idea of fun... probably not suited for most people.

Scientists rate much higher on my belief scale than do religious philosophers or political pundits... at least I can check (and have checked) the facts for myself!

RE NASA...should I dig out the letters from NASA Chief Scientist Frank McDonald...thanking me for suggesting Gaia Two as a replacement for shuttle...in 1984/5?
As usual...way behind the curve...NASA, that is!
Just imagine where we could be if McDonald hadn't been hamstrung by all that bureaucracy...and could have at least taken a second look...group think is getting us nowhere...slow.
I'm glad to hear NASA is opening up to private space companies. This is the smartest thing they could do! Let them focus of Low Earth Orbit and then the moon while NASA with its government money sets its sights on Mars and the rest of the system. This is the only way we’re going to get out there.
Congrats on six years, Alan!
Wow - 6 years - Congratulations Alan!  I've just finished up two years at the Space Elevator Blog - I know how much work this is.  I hope you're around for at least another 6 years.
Roger that, J. I. and D. H.!    Thanks for the 'forum', Alan.   Here's to another six years.....
mmmmm, Scotch....
....and, hey, isn't 'New Scientist' that gullible rag that published (apparently without review) that article by Ron Levin claiming to present a 'puddle' of water on Mars....on the face of a cliff??
