Perhaps ESA will stick a heat shield on the ATV. Maybe thats another reason why they want astronauts.
What an exciting time to follow cosmology! New images and discoveries seem to be flooding in at an astronomical rate;-). The possibility exists for new particles, earthlike planets, and commercial space flight to name a few. My favorite is the debate over dark matter and dark energy. So if dark energy is discovered, do we really need a big bang?
Actually, that's not a bad idea about sticking a heat shield on the ATV... I read somewhere that it would wouldn't be difficult to human rate the Jules Verne. I guess we'll see how that works out when they retire the shuttle.
